Summary

1916 wreck of Norwegian cargo vessel which foundered near the Pakefield Gap Buoy after being mined or torpedoed en route from London for Porsgrunn with coke. Constructed of iron in 1884, she was a steam-driven vessel. Her possible remains are thought to be those recorded at TM 69 NW 5. Status: Casualty

Full Description

Lowestoffe 4 February 1836. Early this morning the wind veered round from SSE to E and by N, and blew a heavy gale. At daylight, the beach from Pakefield to Covehithe was covered with broken spars, pumps, boats & c. The JANE, of Sunderland, is totally wrecked on the flats. (1)
