Full Description
1767 wreck of English collier which stranded near Aldeburgh en route from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to London with coal; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty
`The CHASE, Jackson, from Newcastle to London, is drove on shore near Aldburgh, and it's feared will be lost; also four other light colliers on shore near the same place.' (2)
`Newcastle, March 14...An account is received that the CHACE, Jackson, of this port; the CHARLOTTE...and the FATHER'S GOODWILL...all for London, with coals, were lately drove on shore at Aldbrough, in a hard gale. The CHACE and CHARLOTTE are wrecked, but the latter is got off.' (3)
