Status: Casualty
'Stranded.' (1)
'Vessel stranded and lost in wind conditions NE force 9.' (2)
'The steamer AMCOTT went ashore at Aldborough at 6am yesterday. All hands lost; one body picked up. Vessel gone to pieces.' (3)
There are two entries for this vessel in the Shipwreck Index of the British Isles, Section 2, (Suffolk), (1) and Section 5, Yorkshire (2), the latter based on misunderstanding the old spelling 'Aldborough' as referring to Alborough rather than Aldeburgh. Source (1) states the date of loss as 02-NOV-1893, whereas (2) gives a date of 20-NOV-1893. Each provides differing details of the master and owner.
