1809 wreck of British cargo vessel which stranded near Southwold en route from Sunderland to Weymouth with coal; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`The UNION, Carter, from Sunderland to Weymouth, is on shore near Southwold, and full of water.' (2)(3)

NB: Source (1) states the vessel's cargo as coal; certainly Sunderland's chief export, but not made explicit in source (2).
