POSSIBLE REMAINS OF GERMAN SUBMARINE, 1918

Method of Fix: HF6

Depth-charged and sunk by HM Drifter Ocean Rambler. Identity
unknown. Sank 3.5 miles off Southwold.
20-NOV-1977 Wreck located in 52 16 18.0N, 001 42 38.0E. Echosounder
depth 11m. Appears to lie N/S. Height approximately 18ft above
seabed. Scour on S side.

11-DEC-1984 Examined. Least echosounder depth 11.7m.

06-DEC-1984 Known locally as "the submarine". Position 52 16 20.0N,
001 42 41.0E. Least echosounder depth 11.7 in general depth 16 to
16.5m. Scour depth 17.3m. Side scan sonar height 4.4 to 5.0m,
length 85m, breadth 15m, approximately. Lying 025/205 degrees.

19-MAY-1986 Dived in almost nil visibility and found wreck
well-covered with nets, making it a dangerous dive.
