1831 wreck of cargo vessel which foundered after grounding on the Barnard Sand; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty
`Lowestoffe, 5th Feb. The VITTORIA, Hood, struck upon the Newcombe Sand last night, but was assisted off...The master states, that a large vessel struck upon the Barnard Sand, about 4pm yesterday, and almost immediately went down, and it is feared, with the crew.' (1)
