1807 wreck of English cargo vessel which stranded between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`Yarmouth, Feb. 19. On Wednesday last, about 3 o'clock in the morning, a most violent gale of wind came on very suddenly from the NE, and continued till the evening, the dreadful effects of which appear all along the coast, several miles to the northward and southward of this port...Between Yarmouth and Lowestoffe, the TARTAR, of and from Shields, for London, with coals, C Grant master, lost, and the master and 9 of the crew perished.' (1)
