1741 wreck of British collier which was lost near Lowestoft en route from Shields to London with coal; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

The vessel was reported lost on 03-MAR-1740.

`The ESTHER, Simpson, a collier, from Shields for London, is lost near Leostoff.' (1)(2)(4)

`The ESTHER, Thomas Simpson, from Shields for London, is lost near Leostaff.' (3)

Sources (2) and (3) follow source (1) in expressing the date of loss as 1740 (Old Style); the record has been amended to reflect New Style reckoning, i.e. 1741.
