ENGLISH BRIG, 1852
Status: Casualty

`Lowestoffe, 4th Jan: The EDWARD KENNY of Wisbeach, from Newcastle to Venice, got on the Newcome Sand last night, and has sunk as far as the lower yards; crew saved.' (1)

Got on the Newcome Sand in strong SW winds, and sank down to the lower yards at 5pm. The master reported that he mistook the buoy of the Sand, and went the wrong side of it; also that his chart was incorrect, but since this document was lost in the wreck it could not be produced as evidence at the inquiry. (2)
