1802 wreck of English cargo vessel which stranded on the Newcome Sand en route from Liverpool or Chester to Newcastle-upon-Tyne with lead; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`The MARTIN, Mortimore, from Liverpool to Newcastle, was stranded near Lowestoff the 23rd inst. Part of the cargo saved.' (2)(3)

`Yarmouth, July 27. On the morning of the 23d inst. the MARTIN, of Liverpool, William Mortimer master, from Chester bound to Newcastle, with lead, struck on the Newcome Sand, off Lowestoft, and is lost; part of the cargo will be saved.' (4)
