Full Description

1802 wreck of Scottish cargo vessel which was wrecked near Lowestoft en route from Leith to London with coal and other goods; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`The MERCURY, Richie, from Leith to London, is wrecked off Lowestoff; crew saved.' (2)

`Newcastle, January 1...On the 17th instant [sic] the MERCURY, of Leith, Thomas Ritchie, from Leith to London, with coals and sundry goods, was totally lost near Lowestoff, the crew saved.' (3)
