WELSH SCHOONER, 1853
Status: Casualty
`Struck the Newcome Sand at 11am in wind conditions NNW force 2 and clear. The BOT Inquiry found apparent negligence on the part of the master, by standing too close to the sand. The Coastguards reported that the crew were saved in their own boat. Estimated loss on the vessel 800 pounds [sterling], which was insured at Bangor. (1)
