A possible Medieval/Post Medieval moat and associated ditches can be seen at approximately TL 8552 6972 within a single arable field between the road and the course of the railway line. The moat appeared as a rectangular enclosure defined by single broad ditch. The northern corner is not visible at the edge of the field. A number of finer ditches extend from the corners of the main enclosure which could be associated water courses and drains. Within the enclosure are further linear features and fine ditched sub-divisions. These features were visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in July 2006 by English Hertiage as part of the Reconnaissance Recording programme.
