Full Description
1994: A fieldwalking survey along the proposed route of the Haverhill Southern bypass produced low quantities of finds. The only concentrations of finds to show during the statistical analysis were Roman pottery and medieval and post medieval tile and brick. Burnt flint was found in several fields and there were a few reddened flints but these are likely to be post medieval rather than prehistoric, particularly in the absence of struck flints. There was a low general scatter of medieval pottery which is unsuprising given the proximity of medieval sites such as Copse Hall and Haverhill Hall. The scatter of medieval finds can be attributed to manuring and ploughing. (S1)
