Full Description

Geophysical survey identified two series of enclosures and associated settlement activity. The enclosures in the south are likely associated with a ‘Ladder’ or ‘Ribbon’ settlement including subdivisions with areas of burning both small and more industrial sized, possible pits for waste disposal, storage and post-holes, possible stone walls or embankment, and a possible building. Given the location of a former medieval common to the immediate west, this settlement may be from the early-medieval to medieval periods. Further enclosures and a possible area of extraction branch off from this ladder settlement and may represent another phase of activity. Further agricultural activity of the medieval and post-medieval period landscape was identified across the site. Full Report to follow (S1).
