Full Description

Membury House is half of a pair of buildings which were originally a House and Shop. Well House, the adjoining property was always the majority of the property. The current rear extensions represent mid 20th century remodelling of mid 19th century timber-framed buildings to the extent that only the principal timbers remain. Starting as a small single unit, the kitchen was extended to three times its original length between 1848 and 1886 and the WC was erected as an outhouse and most likely always was the outside toilet (S1).
