Full Description
2025: Archaeological evaluation identified two small ditches of Middle/Late Saxon date that may relate to the early development of the village. The majority of the recorded features were probable cultivation beds/trenches of late 19th/early 20th-century date. These were located in the middle of the development site and were possibly associated with the adjacent Old Rectory. These beds, and a seemingly isolated pit, contained domestic rubbish that may have derived from the occupation of The Old Rectory itself. Two ditches positioned perpendicular to the road and a number of possible postholes, all in the north of the site, were undated. These likely related to post-medieval, or possibly medieval, agricultural land use (S1).
