Full Description
?Bronze Age `British bronze sword, leaf shaped, dredged out of Orwell! - ?Late Bronze Age. Exhibited in 1891 by Mr A C Casley (S1). Not positively stated to be from Orwell in Ipswich, could be from other parishes along River Orwell. Formerly entered as Roman & Unknown and as being in IPSMG, however no sword from Orwell presently held in IPSMG & source indicates the sword was in possession of Mr Casley in 1891.
Note: Possibly confusion with rapier from River Orwell - see SUF Misc. Alternatively, this may be the complete Late Bronze Age sword stolen from Ipswich Museum in 1956/7 (S2).
