Full Description

Deserted green, known as Mill Mount.
OS TM 2872 7923 Mill Mount (NAT), OS 6 inch 1959 (S1).
Great ditch and signs of tofts around perimeter. Grassed (S2). The "Mill Mount" is steep-sided and rectangular, and is surrounded by a water-filled ditch about 1.7m deep, which broadens into a pond on the N about 2.0m deep. The mound itself rises 2.3m above surrounding level fields and has a flat top 7.0m x 9.0m. There is no sign of the structure of the mill; and no entrance causeway could be found. The plan and angular profile suggest a late date of construction (S1).
Area of mill mount and most of adjoining field covered in trees and undergrowth. Western arm of 'T' shaped moat shown on OS map now filled in. C13-C14 pottery recovered from area of filled in moat TM 2865 7926. C17-C18 pottery recovered from TM 2865 7922 (S5).

Also said to be medieval and/or post medieval coins found in the infilled moat area (in 2000's)
