Full Description
(TM 069669) Moat (NR). (S1)
A right angle of a moat may be seen at the rectory. (S2)
The two rectangular ponds visible to the south of the former rectory do not form part of a moat but have the appearance of ornamental features filled by natural drainage. A spoil bank 10.0m wide by 1.0m high is visible outside the southern pond, with a summer house at the east end, but this in no way forms part of a defensive feature.
The farmer at the adjacent Church Farm said he believed the ponds were dug in the mid 19th century.
Published 25" survey correct. (S3)
