Full Description
Priests college. Founded under Edward the Confessor (1042-66), no record after Henry III (AD 1216-1272)(R1).
'Site of Priest's College. Only a well now exists at TL82354818.' (S1 after letter from LJ Wickes, Newton Green, Sudbury, 12/7/1950).
Sept 1950: 'The area is under cultivation [cabbage crop!]: no sign of the well was seen or any surface indications of the college.' (S1)(R1).
Missent (1934) stated 'there are no remains to be seen' and suggested the priests may have used the local church for worship (S1, R1).
Nothing is shown at the cited location on Hodskinsons 1783 map or on the 1880s-1920s OS maps.
