Full Description

Moat. Three sides of square. Small, unoccupied. N Broad Green, behind Rectory (S1).

Taken from NRHE record:

(TL 784 596) Moat (NR)

"The N - W half of a square moat remains at the rectory".

The remains of a rectangular homestead moat lie to the NW of the Rectory. The house dates from the 16th century according to the Rector but has been greatly added to and is not now outstanding. The moat has been landscaped and its waterfilled arms average 6.0m wide by about 1.0m deep. Traces of the north arm extend eastwards as a shallow depression. No obvious drainage outlet is visible; the water level appears to be maintained by natural springs.

Published survey (25") correct).
