Full Description
Single ring ditch, circa 20m diameter (S1).
1988: Broads ESA monitoring: arable, no obvious signs of remains. 1994: Broads ESA monitoring: arable in set-aside. No obvious remains (S3).
A Second World War circular earthwork, probably a searchlight battery, can be seen on aerial photographs of 1945, to the north of Withersdale Cross, Withersdale Street, Mendham parish, centred on circa TM 270812 (S4). The feature comprises a penannular earthwork bank with the opening to the south-west, the material of which was undoubtedly provided by the surrounding ditch. Several probably related military features can also be seen in the immediate area (see MDM 113).
