Monument record EWL 004 - Danby's gravel pit

"Spread of C1 pottery sherds", probably on parish boundary with Wetherden - Ipswich Museum gives grid reference TL 990 627.
Eighteen sherds of Rom pottery with two worked flints, are held in the Basil Brown archive and labelled "Danby's Pit - Woolpit" but these probably came from Danby's Pit, Elmswell (S3).
Bronze strip or band decorated with incised lines and ring and dot motif found in gravel from Danby's Pit 6 July 1959. Seen by Basil Brown who thought it Rom or possibly IA and sketched by him (S4).
Investigations and IA "C" pottery (ie Belgic pottery) reported by Basil Brown in August, September, 1959. Sketch on back of his map not labelled but may refer, location points for two hearths and a ditch (S4).
