Full Description

Following description of galleries 'with antler pick marks on them' (S1) in a working chalk pit the site was visited by J Plouviez. Several narrow vertical mine shafts noticed, probably a source of flint for the production of gun flints - see Parish file. The 'antler pick marks' may have been made by PMed iron picks (?).
1992: Visit by RDC & JN . Blocked (recently) mine, side gallery visible high on quarry face, not inspected (S2).
