Full Description
St Clements Chapel (site of). Possibly one of two churches in Harkstead. Recorded in Domesday Book (S2). Note dedication is seen as probably Viking in origin.
Sited at given NGR on OS 1st ed 1" and 1;2500 maps. For complex of enclosure (?) cropmarks see undated entry.
In 1540 grant made "to Sir Percival Harte, of all the possessions of this parish of the late Monastery of Dartford, Kent" (S1)(R1). Mentioned in will of John Elys of January 1528 (S2)(R2) and in other C16 wills (see S2).
