Full Description

Bronze socketed axe decorated with 3 slightly diverging ribs ending in small single pellets on each face. Length 9.6 cms, width at cutting edge 4.5 cms, weight 140 gms. Good condition. Found by Stephanie Norman on a potato grader in 1985. Potatoes came from NW half of field (OS No. 7725) only, centred on TL 6980 7930 (S1).
Fieldwalking by C Pendleton in 1987 produced flint scatters together with crushed flint filled pottery (of Neo or LBA/IA? date) from the same area. Details not yet available.
