Full Description

Two `winged' chapes `found together' (S1) at Coplow (now Cupola Farm), Undley:- a) with slight incised decoration on socket moulding (slightly damaged). One peg hole only. Max length 11.6 cms, weight 53.15 gms; b) retains one (of two) pegs. Slight damage on interior of `wings'. Max length 12.5 cms, weight 49.61 gms (S2). Cowens type A4 and A1 chapes (S3), Halstatt form of C7 BC (S2).
Formerly sold by S G Fenton to Canon Greenwell, bought back on 28 June 1918 (Lot 411 Sothebys), then bought by IPSMG on 14 July 1936 (Lot 161, Sothebys) (S2).
Cupola Farm probably extended into Lakenheath parish.
According to IPSMG card found at `Undley Row' (S7).
Also socketed hammer from Cupola Farm - see CRN 09304, and pegged spearhead - see CRN 00481.
