Full Description

Clay `loom weight' truncated, elongated, 4-sided pyramid, with one horizontal perforation towards the top (S1)(R1)(R2). Dated to IA in (S1)(R1)(R2) but LBA form, see (S2)(S3)(S4). In fact two `loomweights' from Lakenheath presented by Rev W Greenwell in 1882 with a bronze disc-headed pin (1882 2-4 3) - see LKH Misc. The pin could be contemporary (i.e. LBA) although there is no record of association in the register. Weights and lengths are recorded as follows: 1882 2-4 2 is 2282g and 168mm high; 1882 2-4 1 is 2568g and 183mm high.
Similar loom weights from Kennett/Kentford in MIHLM and from Badwell Ash (BAA 005).
