Full Description
September 2013. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The possible site of a former World War Two structure of unknown function may be visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The site is centred on TM 5032 9753. A possible structure within an embanked or cleared area may be visible within the centre of a field in 1941 (S1) – possibly a searchlight or similar structure. However due to the poor quality of the available aerial photograph it is not possible to confidently interpret this site and it is feasible that it is agricultural or natural in nature – for example representing a pond, former quarry or natural hollow. No sign of such a feature is visible in July 1944 (S2), possibly suggesting that the earlier feature was a military site that has since been removed. However a circular hollow is visible at this approximate location in 1971 (S3).
