Full Description

March 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Several undated linear ditch features are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S3). Features of geological origin were also visible on aerial photographs (S3), and whilst these were not mapped, their presence made interpreting the possible archaeological features more difficult, therefore this area has been recorded with a note of caution.
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 15th January 2014.

2025: Geophysical survey identified a series of enclosures and possible trackway, evidence of burning suggesting industrial activity was also identified. This is possibly a series of agricultural enclosures or, perhaps more likely given their location close to the watercourse, a complex of water management features. An Iron Age – medieval date is proposed based on morphology. Several anomalies typical of ring ditches were also identified, and may be barrows, enclosures, or round houses, associated with the surrounding field system and likely from the Bronze Age to Romano-British period.
