Full Description
Double ring ditch, circa 30m outer diameter (S1)(S2). A possible second double ring ditch of similar size with a dark cebtral 'blob' exist circa 80m to the NW.
Note further double ring ditch BLN 009 circa 200m to SW.
October 2013. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The cropmarks of a double concentric ring ditch, potentially representing the remains of a Neolithic and/or Bronze Age round barrow or hengiform monument, are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The site is centred on TM 5248 9837 and is 30m in overall diameter. The inner ditch appears to have a penannular plan, with inwardly turning ditch terminus, very similar to LUN 042 to the north. The southern part of the monument is obscured by the partially bisecting field boundary. See BLN 009 for another nearby elaborate ring ditch or circular enclosure.
