Full Description
April 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The site of World War Two military camp or group of surface shelters is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The exact function of this site is uncertain. The buildings have the appearance of surface air raid shelters or similar buildings; however the high concentration of structures at the site may be more indicative of a military camp or similar site. The barbed wire obstruction of the extensive system of defences recorded (LWT 045) pre-dates and runs through the site. The World War Two features are also situated on top of medieval to post medieval earthworks (OUL 028).
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 30th April 2014.
