Full Description
Cropmark of a ring ditch, circa 33m in diameter, linear ? field boundary NE - SW respecting it. (S1)(R1).
Due to boundary changes , site is now in the parish of Needham Market.
The cropmarks of a ploughed out Bronze Age round barrow were mapped for the Ipswich NMP. The cropmark is 31m in diameter with no visible internal features or entrances. A cropmark of a former field boundary, 67m in length, runs NE-SW towards the ring ditch, but does not cross it completely. There is a further short section of ditch visible to the west of the barrow, this cropmark is narrow and probably represents a former medieval field boundary, although it is not marked on the 1st edition OS mapping, however, it is on a similar orientation to other visible field boundaries that are marked on the OS mapping. Helen Saunders (Essex County Council) November 2013. (S2)(S3)
