Full Description

A World War II strongpoint, visible at TM 52648114, on Green Heath. The strongpoint is visible in 1940 as a possible World War I pillbox (at TM 52678118) with an associated trench, within barbed wire. A second pillbox is in the process of being built to the southwest and there are a number of slit trenches (S1). By 1941, the trench system has been extended to the second pillbox and the barbed wire circuit has been enlarged to encompass these and to cover part of the cliff top, the inland part of the extension being double lines. The digging of the anti tank ditch to the north has also necessitated the line of the circuit being altered here (S2). The features have since been eroded away.
