Full Description

A World War II strongpoint is visible in 1941, sited at a possible strategic point near the entrance to Orford Haven and Barthorp's Creek. The strongpoint comprises a barbed wire obstruction encircling a hexagonal pillbox (TM37724474) with adjoining structure and also another possible structure at TM37824484. (S1)
Some of the internal structures may be visible in 1940, although the barbed wire enclosure has yet to be constructed. (S2)
The barbed wire enclosure had been removed by Oct 1945. The pillbox at TM37724474 is still extant according to the modern base map.
See HLY 042 for scaffolding and HLY 036 for anti-tank defences, which both run through the site.
