Full Description

Two sections of trench of World War II date can be seen to the east of Pakefield Road on 1941 (S1) and 1944 (S2) aerial photographs. One section is zig-zag shaped and stretches for c 35m, while the other section is c 30m long and is an irregular 'Y-shape'. It is most likely that these trenches formed part of a series of practice trenches, although they may also have played a role in the coastal defences of this area.
