Monument record FEX 124 - World War II beach scaffolding.

Beach scaffolding of World War II date can be seen running from TM324373 to TM324363 along the coast to the north of Felixstowe. The beach scaffolding encloses a low lying area in front of the anti-tank ditch (FEX 118) which was in use as a golf course. There appears to be some military activity within this area, although only a few small trenches could be considered of a permanent nature, the rest of the activity appearing to comprise of vehicles and possibly tents. The scaffolding was constructed some time after July 1940 and the majority appears to have been removed by October 1945.
(S1) (S2) (S3) Iron spikes, or 'Dragon's Teeth', are visible on an RAF oblique photograph taken in 1941, poking out of the sea to the east of Martello Tower T (FEX 062). The nature of the photograph means it was not possible to map these features as part of the Suffolk Coastal NMP project. (S4)
