Full Description
Two circular, embanked features can be seen as earthworks on 1941 aerial photographs (S1), just inland from the beach in the northern part of Southwold. These would appear to be World War II date gun emplacements. Apparently assocaited with these are some stretches of barbed wire, located just on the beach to the east of the emplacements. These features are likely to have been part of the coastal defences in this area during the Second World War & can also be seen on later aerial photographs (S2).
