Full Description

An irregular-shaped section of trench located on the beach to the east of Havenbeach Marshes can be seen on aerial photographs from November 1941 (S1). However, it is not visible on photographs from September 1941 (S2), which means that it was constructed at some point between these two dates. It can thus be firmly dated to the World War II period, and would have fulfilled either a defensive or practice role.
