Full Description

A D-shaped, crenelated, practice trench c60m long is visible as an earthwork on Dunwich Heath on aerial photographs from 1945(S1,S2). The trench is not visible on earlier aerial photographs from 1941. It is likely to be a practice feature, and is in a form more common to the German military. It may be that this trench was constructed to give British troops practice with various forms of foreign forces' trenches. The feature can still be clearly seen on aerial photographs from 1946(S3).
