Full Description

A number of angular, possibly man-made, pits, centred on TM 29064244, can be seen adjoining channels in the salt-marsh at the edge of the Deben Estuary on photographs taken from the 1940s onwards. The features are small, the largest pit being 11m in length, but if they are man-made features they may represent the remains of a shellfish production site or of some type of small-scale extractive process. (S1) (S2) (S3)
Other pits in the area may be man-made features.
