Full Description

The possible remains of a quay are visible, centred on TM 28314638, at either side of the pier at Methersgate Quay on aerial photographs from 1945. The feature consists of two faint linear structures running parallel with the edge of the saltmarsh, one to the north and one to the south of the pier. The linear features may consist of timber posts but it is impossible to be sure from the photographs available. The features cover a total distance of 184m and the northern feature has a short linear feature protruding from it, at a right-angle, into the channel at TM 28254646. The linear features may represent the remains of a quay. (S1)
Also seen during field survey of Suffolk Coast - slight remains of possible jetty close to low water mark. S2
