Full Description

A Post Medieval sea bank is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1945, running along the northern side of the Deben just to the north-east of Kingston. The sea bank is 0.9 km in length and runs from TM 27044767 to TM 27314839. The bank may have been subject to some concrete reinforcement. (S1) A bank is depicted in this position on the 1st and 2nd edition Ordnance Survey 25" maps of circa 1884 and 1904. The flood defence is therefore likely to be of Post Medieval or earlier date (S2) (S3).
