Full Description
A probable bomb crater is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork just to the east of the Meare at Thorpeness, centred on TM47195948. The crater is visible from 1941 onwards. It is smaller in size than two craters immedialtely to the east (see ARG 044), roughly 6m in diameter compared to 9-10m, but this may be explained by the difference in land surfaces affected; grassland as compared to the beach. The crater is visible on aerial photographs in a successively more eroded state until 1969, when it is obscured by vegetation. (S1-S4)
