Full Description
A group of World War II fieldworks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs, in the area of Aldeburgh Brickworks. Three slit trenches are visible on high ground overlooking the extaction pits of Aldeburgh brickworks, at circa TM44995727, TM45135717 and TM45165729. A circular feature, probably a weapons pit or light anti-aircraft battery, is also visible centred on circa TM45025719. These military features have been positioned along field or garden boundaries, probably to provide a degree of camouflage, but their position on relatively high ground also allows a good range of vision across the Alde, specifically a disused jetty in an area potentially vulnerable to enemy landing (S1, S2).
