Full Description
A possible Post Medieval quarry pit is visible as a cropmark and slight earthwork, centred on TM 27173595, in the field to the west of Keeper's Lodge, Trimley St Mary, on aerial photographs taken from 1944 onwards. The pit is irregular in shape and measures 98m by 53m at its widest points. (S1) (S2) A small earthwork is depicted in this location on both the 1st and 2nd Edition 25" Ordnance Survey maps of circa 1884 and 1904, suggesting that the quarry had gone out of use well before that date.
