Full Description

A possible Prehistoric curvilinear ditched enclosure is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, centred on TM 22633675 in Shotley parish. The enclosure is an irregular oval shape and is bisected by the modern road. The enclosure measures roughly 92m by 47m and does not appear to be related to the any of the other field systems in the area (see SLY 019) . Its size and shape suggest that it may be of Prehistoric date. (S1) (S2) (S3)
See SLY 143 for the possible Post Medieval field system.
