Full Description

A World War II coastal artillery searchlight is visible as a structure on aerial photographs taken from 1944 onwards, located on the beach to the south of Landguard Fort, Felixstowe at TM 28183138. The searchlight consists of a small concrete structure 4.5m by 4m with a rounded front. This is a concentrated fighting light and narrow vertical slits are visible in the rounded front, through which the beam would have shone. (S1) (S2) (S3)
