Full Description

A small number of probable shellfish production pits are visible as earthworks cut into the saltmarsh on aerial photographs of 1945, located immediately to the south of the sea wall recorded as ORF 059, centred on circa TM44734972 (S1). The pits are about 2m wide and between 6 and 9m long. At least four pits can be seen and more may be present, but due to the scale of the photographs available it is not possible to be sure. The association of the pits with the sea wall suggests a Post Medieval date for their construction.
